Do you have a special occasion coming up and need to lose weight fast? The Cabbage Soup Diet might just be what you need, although it is not recommended for long-term weight loss. This soup is high-fiber, low-fat diet that can help you shed pounds fast and then stick with a long-term, moderate eating plan after. Like all diets, there are the pros and cons. This soup is to be used for only seven days and you can eat all you want of the foods listed in the program and give a great kick-start for any moderate diet. Some followers find the soup bland and have said they felt weak and light-headed but still felt it was worth it since it was just for a week and they did loose considerable weight. There are six keys to success with this soup and I will list them here. 1. Follow the diet directions religiously. 2. Four glasses of water per day is required. 3. Remind yourself that this is only for seven days, a time frame anyone can work with. 4. A good multivitamin tablet is a good compliment to this soup. 5. Eat plenty of soup and know that it is OK and you don’t want to starve yourself because if you do, you might end up cheating and breaking the diet. 6. If you find the soup bland, you can certainly add spices to liven it up.

When you’ve suffered from an injury that has been caused by the negligence of another person, you can file an injury claim. Injuries, especially if they’re serious, can lead to weeks or months lost from work, enormous medical expenses and in some cases, can cause your life to be changed forever.
Injury claims can be filed against anyone that is at fault. Employer’s sometimes subject employees to unsafe work conditions, the driver of another car may be driving recklessly and even your neighbor may have created a dangerous situation. And, they can all be held responsible for any pain or expenses that their negligence has caused.
You can even file an injury claim for a child that has been injured while in the care of a baby sitter, a day care facility or their school. If your child has been injured because they weren’t properly supervised while in someone’s care, you can win a compensation claim.
There are many times that injuries just can’t be avoided, but when an injury was caused by something that someone else did, or didn’t do, you can file an injury claim. How much you can file for will depend on why the injury occurred and what could have been done to prevent it. But, if you, or your child has been hurt, you are entitled to file an injury claim.

Your alarm clock buzzes to get you out of bed. You begin to get up but this morning is different. You feel heavy, tired and fatigued, a slight fever, and aches all over your body. You realized you have been breathing through your mouth because your nose is all clogged up. You just caught the common cold. Or has it caught you? The common cold is the most frequent excuse of absences from work and school.
The common cold can last from one to two weeks. There is still no cure for it. It is caused by more than a hundred known types of viruses. Because of their overwhelming numbers and because new cold viruses relentlessly emerge, the human body is basically defenseless. The common cold is the most recurring infection in the world. Rhinoviruses are most efficient when it comes to creeping and contaminating the nasal linings.
Cold symptoms are the body’s reaction to the viral infiltration. When a cold virus gets inside, a part of the immune system is activated. The immune system cause mucus gland secretion and arouse pain nerves. Inflammatory mediators in the immune system also trigger sneezing and coughing. Although this is in reaction to the presence of the cold virus, it is not related to any recuperation from the infection.
During the first two to three days of the infection, secretions from the nose containing the cold virus is at its most highest. This is the time when it is most contagious. The cold virus easily spreads from human to human by sneezing, coughing, blowing of the nose, and surface contamination through the touching by the infected person of any surface with secretion. The cold virus is then transferred and picked-up by anybody in the nearby surroundings.
Medications are targeted at the accompanying symptoms of the common cold and not the cold virus itself. This illness is left alone and let to run its due course. Doctors recommend plenty of rest, drinking lots of fluids, and supplementing medications such as cough remedies and sore throat lozenges. Washing of hands, avoiding sharing the same utensils and towels used by someone who has a cold, and avoiding interaction with people infected with the cold virus are sure ways to prevention.

Stress, like taxes and death, is a fact of life and happens to everyone. Stress is regularly related to work, frustrations, difficulties, hassles, and the demands of modern life. It has been regarded as part of everyday life. It is thought to be connected to fatigue, aging, depression, and lead to some ailments and medical conditions. However, it isn’t actually all that bad. Stress is the body’s natural reaction to a threat. Hormones are released preparing the body for immediate action. This is an automatic protective mechanism. But, if the body is continually exposed to stress-inducing environs, the effects can be harmful.
Excessive stress leads to disruptions and changes in an individual’s way of life. Sleep disturbances, exhaustion, muscle tension, stomach pains, and anxiety are commonly reported. These conditions can further lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. Stressed people are more prone to increase or start smoking, alcohol and drug abuse, and develop poor eating habits. This lowers the body’s defense capabilities against certain illnesses. Not only that, it can cause destructive consequences to productiveness, disposition, relationships, and quality of life.
It is important to deal with stress before it gets serious. One has to know how his body handles stress since there are no generalized methods to measure its effects. Learning various relaxation techniques helps to tone down the natural production of the hormones that causes stress. Getting a massage, taking deep breaths, learning meditation practices such as yoga and tai chi, and even simply imagining a relaxing moment are significant steps to fight off the negative effects of stress. If done regularly, stress management in the face of uncertainties becomes easier.
More factors influence effective control of stress. A circle of empathic and supportive friends and families, maintaining an optimistic attitude, capacity to understand one’s emotion, self-confidence, a level of understanding of an event, and recognizing that one is under stress contributes to efficient stress handling.

We often describe the most important person in our life as the apple of our eye. But if we are suffering from vision problems, we may lose sight of that person forever. Eye care is as important as heart care or any other major health concerns. Vision is one of the most magnificent gifts for us to enjoy a full and happy life. We see and appreciate the world’s colors and watch the greatest shows through our eyes. A healthy vision is usually taken for granted until we begin to experience difficulty in seeing.
Eyes are a set of complex organs interconnected to the brain. The eyes serve as a sensory body part that relays information to our brain. 85% of our sense faculties are from our eyes. The rest come from our hearing, smell, touch, and taste senses. The strategic placement of the eyes inside the skull and the eyelids protect them from harm. A thin membrane at the inner part of the eyelids produces mucus that not only lubricates the eyes but also serve as protection. At the edge of the eyelids are oils that provide additional lubrication. Tears are formed by a gland located under the upper lid somewhere close to the outer corner of the eyes. Tears are secreted to help protect the eyes.
Many eye disorders can be prevented from occurring or slowed down with proper caring. Antioxidants can reduce the risk of developing cataracts and the deterioration of the macula. The macula is a yellowish speck at the center of the retina that gives the best and most accurate visual and color perception. Smoking and prolonged exposure to UV (ultraviolet) light is harmful. People who stay outdoors for a long time should wear sunglasses as protection. Diet also plays a significant role. Eating food rich in Vitamins A, E, and C protect against blindness and acquiring glaucoma.

When technology to monitor our body was developed, it was only then that scientists were able to make comprehensive studies on the effects of sleep to our body. They found out that for an average adult the body needs about 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. Less than that would elevate the risk of contracting diseases and aggravating present illnesses. Good sleeping practices also promote good health benefits in our body.
The most prominent benefit we can get from sleep is helping our body to regenerate. When we are resting, our body can concentrate on fixing the damage to our cells that is caused by stress and toxins in the environment. When we sleep, the body produces more protein that is used to rebuild damaged cells.
An obvious benefit of sleep is the relieving of mental and physical stress we acquire throughout the day. When we go into REM sleep or rapid-eye movement sleep, which is the deepest level of sleep, our mind is believed to be organizing our memory of the past day. It also is believed that our mind is repaired at this level of sleep.
During sleep, our body normalizes our hormone levels. It also helps our muscles and organs to relax and reduce damage from wear and tear. This decreases the rate of degeneration of our body and thus reducing the effects of aging.
During sleep our heart beats at a steady pace. This regulates the blood pressure in our body and helps relive the build up of cholesterol that may cause heart attacks. It also helps the blood in the efficient delivery of the sustenance our body needs.

With the emergence of computers, guarding our health is taken a notch higher. Lots of machines were invented to monitor our body inside and out. Centuries ago, people only rely on physical signs to detect if a person is sick but there are diseases and sickness which can’t be recognized by the naked eye. Thanks to the bright minds of science which made life easier and with their invention saved billions among billions of life.
One famous “health machine” would be the ultra sound. It is famous for detecting the heartbeat and gender of a baby but it is also use to detect if there are foreign antibodies in our stomach and intestines, myoma for example. Sugar and cholesterol levels can easily be detected within five minutes with the use of blood test meters. X-ray, on the other hand, is used to detect if our bones are fine as well as our kidneys and lungs. Even ones blood pressure can be easily read with blood pressure machines.
These equipments make us aware of our health conditions. Knowing the results of these tests is not enough. These machines will be rendered worthless if we will not do something about the results they produce. They are not meant to scare us but rather we should be thankful for these machines gives us an idea of what is going on in our body.
In conclusion, we should not wait for the time when the only “health machine” that can be used on us is a defibrillator.

A startling 50 out of the 200 British law firms that specialise in clinical negligence cases have been told to improve their standards and performance. The findings are that a quarter of those investigated were found to have performance that was below standard.
A large part of the performance increase focuses on getting firms to correctly vet cases before they decide to take it on.
A large amount of public money is spent on clinical medical negligence compensation payments. This problem has been on the increase for years now. A recent investigation found that clinical negligence compensation payments are set to rise to nearly £4.4 billion in the next year. That money would buy a lot of hospital equipment and could be better used to save lives.
A large part of the compensation payments are paid to maternity related cases. Maternity is obviously a delicate area and there have been arguments that it may not all go as smoothly as patients expect. There is always an element of risk when entering hospital, especially when childbirth is concerned. More needs to be done to make sure that the area of childbirth runs smoother. This means that more should be spent on training of junior midwives.
Medical negligence is a problem that isn’t going to go away anytime soon. With more money spent on better training and equipment hopefully the problem can be reduced.
